Peaky Blinders show coming to a theatre that doesn’t exist
Peaky Blinders are heading south to London in Summer 2022, and are taking over The Vanguard Theatre in Camden, creators Immersive Everywhere have announced on social media.
But wait! The Vanguard Theatre doesn’t exist… I put it into Google and all I got was a tiny production company in Worthing, who will probably be seeing a bizarre hike in visitor numbers to its website.
So unless they’re building a new theatre (unlikely, even out of Omicron times) it sounds like this is a hint as to the setting and storyline we’re going to get. They also left us this tidbit:
“Follow the rise in fortune of Tommy Shelby and his family as the unfolding narrative and live actors place the audience right at the heart of the Shelby Company, featuring iconic locations, from the betting shop in Small Heath and The Garrison through to the bakery on the banks of Regent’s Canal, the home of the Solomons gang.”
This is Immersive Everywhere’s second licensed BBC collaboration, having made the gloriously high definition show Dr. Who: Time Fracture that is booking in London until April 2022. The sets and costumes for Dr Who were stunning, so I hope we can expect the same level of world detail!
(As an aside, I wonder if the dates suggest that Dr Who is unlikely to have its run extended…)
