5 reasons you should see The Perfect Crime before it closes
There’s only nine days left to see escape room-theatre hybrid The Perfect Crime, made by the people who brought you Time Run and The Crystal Maze.
It is based on a true crime, the theft of Rembrandt’s The Storm on the Sea of Galilee and Vermeer’s The Concert which were stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. They have remained missing to this day...
mysterious
It ran for almost two years and for very good reason - here’s five reasons we reckon you should go:
You (kind of almost) get to be in a heist movie - high-tech locks, safe cracking, laser matrices, a wafer-thin reason for wanting the art in the first place and even more dubious reasons for going about it the way you do. Every trope of a heist movie you ever wanted - this has got the lot.
The scale is pretty cool - if you like your escape rooms big and sophisticated, this one is pretty big and sophisticated. It’s unusual for London escape rooms where space is usually at a real premium and makes for some interesting variety of physical puzzles and often multiple correct answers. It also means…
It’s awesome for groups - up to six people can go to The Perfect Crime and there’s loads to do (and loads of space) for everyone which means no arguments! YAY! If you don’t know what kind of arguments you have nicer friends than I do. We actually went just as a two and I thought it would have been even better if there were more of us.
You get to try your hand at improv - yes, I know some of you are recoiling but trust me when I say it’s the best bit. This is partially immersive theatre which means there are actors and you do have to interact. The terror! The delight! The moral conundrums!
