Bridgerton pre-show online experience has landed

Ahhhh!

The big daddies of immersive experience Secret Cinema, in partnership with Fever, are opening the doors to their Bridgerton installment in London February 2022 and I cannot wait.

There will be dresses, there will be dancing, there will be scandal.

There might even be a passable look-a-like of REGÉ-JEAN PAGE!

(I hope.)

Today, emails went out inviting ticket holders to ‘Lady Whistledown’s finishing school’, the pre-show online experience that will help us polish up our shoddy modern manners so that we can impress the queen and compete for the coveted title of the Diamond of the Evening.

Bravo to Secret Cinema. I think this is their best pre-show online that I’ve seen, extensive in its interactive content and teasers and whipping my anticipation into a frenzy.

So what does it include?

Discover your alias

A registration and a couple of multiple choice questions that ranged from what’s your family motto to how did your family establish itself and lo, I have become:

“Hazel Salt, Keeper of Rocks”!

OK, that’s not quite the delicate Regency butterfly I thought I might have become for one evening. I sound like a Victorian naturalist. It made me laugh out loud.

At least rocks make sense, as a wise(ish) geologist once told me. (I think he followed this up with “more sense than girls” - but let’s leave that to one side.)

Acquire your dance card

Possibly the most exciting section is the dance card which looks a like it might be hinting at all the activities you can do throughout the evening.

It includes “learn a dance”, “meet the queen” and, for the more ballsy among us “invite a stranger to dance”.

Gulp.

You can print out or buy a copy to guide you through the evening.

Plan your costumes!

Can you go to a Regency ball and not be dressed up? It would be a massive shame not to be, I think. The Finishing School has costume inspiration based on the ‘team’ you pick (Cat, Rabbit, Stag or Fox) and an online shop.

I was really impressed with the shop - there’s lot of choice, it’s not too expensive (everything from a pin from £4 to a dress which is £60) and dare I say it - it’s all very wearable.

I am really coveting the brocade grey empire line, but am weighing up cost and the extra-ness. Will I ever wear it again? After a cursory scan on Amazon and I found a few really nice costume options - below - that were slightly more simple and were half the price.

Hmm… decisions…

Get a taste of being a solo traveller

So I hadn’t realised this - but not only can you go to the Bridgerton Ball on you own with support to find other ‘solo travellers’ but there’s also a dating element!

Is this sheer genius or what?

If you wear a white rose you’ll be introduced to other people on a friendship basis, but if you wear a red rose you can be paired up.

Can you think of a better way to meet a partner? I can’t. This must be one of the most out there blind date situations I can think of. Think of it, you’ll get an amazing story either way.

And more…

There’s seriously so much to do. I recommend you spend some time on it to get the most out of your evening.

See you there!
