Steampunk town coming to London this summer

Annie (or whatever your name is) get your gun, there’s a steampunk town coming to Surrey Quays that is touting itself as “the world’s first fully immersive open-world adventure”.

What is it?

It sounds super impressive with an indoor and outdoor element comprising:

“A fully-realised steampunk town with its own waterfall, lake and residents. As prospective new citizens, you will be able to embark on a journey to uncover the mysteries that lurk in every corner of the town in this 5 hour immersive experience.”

Yes, you read that correctly. 5 hours. Sounds like we’ll all be getting our money’s worth.

The world is described as theme-park like, which suggests that you pay to get in and then may have to pay for additional experiences such as food, drink, shops and renting a boat (the latter sounds very cool). There are also lots of mysteries to unpack, with over 100 adventures, games and stories.

I think that the title of world’s first may be debatable, given that Secret Cinema has been creating what could be described as open-world adventures for years. But they’ve definitely piqued my interest…

We’ll see you there.

Phantom Peak opens on 3 August at Canada Water and tickets can be booked here, starting at £34
