Yayoi Kasuma’s Infinity Rooms extends run at Tate Modern

Infinity Mirrored Room - Filled with the Brilliance of Life

Yayoi Kusama's mirror rooms have been installed at the Tate for over a year and the tickets are so hot, it’s been invariably sold out and almost impossible to get tickets… until now that is. The Tate has just extended its run until June 2023 and new tickets have been released!

There are two rooms Infinity Mirrored Room – Filled with the Brilliance of Life (the one on all the posters) and Chandelier of Grief which you are let into in small groups for a strict 2 minutes a pop. You can also see photos from Kusama’s life and learn about how her work was driven by experiencing hallucinations from a young age.

I was lucky enough to take a look at the rooms a few weeks ago and the infinity mirrored room really does make you feel like you’ve stepped into another universe. Almost like a hall of mirrors cranked up way past 11, and much more beautiful to boot. Chandelier of Grief is more eery - I don’t know if it’s the fact I associate chandeliers with times gone by or as a relic of an old world.

Both are an immersive designer’s dream for, obviously, the innovative use of mirrors, but also the heady mix of emotions and spectacle they achieve in such a small space.

Tickets are £10 for non-members and available here.
